Is there way to possibly keep that Virtual DVD drive connected or connect it on boot up of the HTPC to try cut down this time? Having powerDVD take so long to load an ISO is a show stopper for me. Playing the same Media source from within the Kodi library but choosing the Kodi default built in Video Player and load time is seconds. The same happens by the way if I choose Play with PowerDVD from within Kodi library and the media source is an iso, a long long wait. I notice under device manager that powerDVD adds a virtual DVD drive and that shows as disconnected, I presume when I choose open with PowerDVd then that Virtual device is connected by PowerDVD, and then the iso is mounted by powerDVD on that Virtual device and only then is it ready to play? and that is why it takes forever. It takes an age for the iso to come up and be ready. Right click on the iso and choose open with but this time choose PowerDVD Its secondsĭo the same again and now will use powerDVD to open the iso from File Explorer, and the PowerDVD program is already opened on my desktop. Kodi launches and iso is ready immediately, ie menus appear etc, play can start. Right click on the iso and chose open with.

This is how I am testing (I am not launching from my library but using Windows file explorer to take the media library out the equation). this is not a Kodi vs PowerDVD thread.Īll is woking well except when I wish to play ISO files, and these I play from my HDD. I plan to use PowerDVD as it seems to deal with BluRay menus a bit better than Kodi (most times) while Kodi as a media library is working well for me and my needs.

I am running PowerDVD and Kodi on a HTPC, Windows 10 64 bit Pro edition, 1709 update,, 16Mb RAM, Intel i5-6600 CPU, Nvidia 1050Ti GPU, WS Red NAS drives etc. I have downloaded the trial, installed it and have it configured that it luanches as a Kodi External player as well. Still, it's good to know that Kodi 19.0 is finally out – and this will undoubtedly force developers to speed up their work.Hi, I am looking to purchase PowerDVD to use as an external player for Kodi. Developers did have plenty of time to migrate their addons, which clearly didn't happen in the way Kodi's developers hoped to see. When Can We Expect From Incompatible Addons to Be Updated for Kodi 19? While waiting for that to happen, there's no way to access or use addons that are incompatible with Kodi 19. And also, there's really nothing you can do to fix this issue – but wait for your favorite addons to be updated by their developers. Therefore, this whole situation doesn't have anything to do with Kodi users.

And as you can imagine, transitioning their Kodi addons to Python 3 might not be their priority. Third-party developers of Kodi addons aren’t typically paid for that job. With that said, the simplest explanation is the following one. This might look like a lot of time, and Kodi’s developers had a plan to make this transition simple – but things have become quite complicated in the meantime. It’s been three years since Kodi’s developers have announced their transition to Python 3. Is There a Way to Fix This Issue? Can You Still Access Addons Not Compatible With Kodi 19?
